Why Kaduna State Government Shuts Bet9ja, King Bet, and 11 Other Gaming Centres.
The Kaduna Internal Revenue Service has shut down 13 gaming companies in the state and vow to shut more.
The Head of Gaming in the agency, Liye Anthony, who spoke to journalists said the gaming centers are illegal and have no license to operate in the state.
He said there are more than 1500 illegal gaming centers in Kaduna State, and the authority has begun an operation to close them. Bet9ja, King Bet, Access Bet, and others are among the centers that have been closed down.
The Executive Chairman of the Kaduna Internal Revenue Service also told journalists that apart from the fact that the gaming centers are unlicensed, there are also owing tax liabilities close to about 500 million Naira.
He added that the gaming industry is making about two billion Naira from Kaduna monthly but they are not ready to pay tax.
He also said that the gaming companies are mandated by law to integrate their system with that of the state Internal Revenue Service, but they failed to do so.
It was gathered that Section 86 of the Kaduna State Tax Codification and Consolidation Law, 2020 mandated that any gaming company wishing to operate in the state should, upon payment of nonrefundable N400,000 registration fee, apply in writing for an operating license.
What do you think about this law?
