During the nationwide protest, security personnel clampdown on the protesters and arrested some but were later released except for Lagos State where the protesters were charged to court yesterday.
In the latest video posted online by the convener of the Revolution Now protest Yele Sowore, some policemen can be seen hailing the protesting youths for taking to the streets to demand good governance among other basic amenities.
Yele Sowore, who contested for the position of the president in 2019 under the African Action Congress, AAC, is the convener of the group which has now gone global with Nigerians across the world joining the group’s call for good governance In Nigeria.
Sowore was arrested and detained for months last year on the allegation that he is planning to usurp an elected government. He was released in December, 2019 following mounting pressure on the Muhammadu buhari led federal government by the United States government where Sowore is a citizen.
Since his release, the activist-cum-politician has not backed down from convening the protest despite his stringent bail condition that ensured he can’t travel outside Abuja, the capital territory of Nigeria.
