Transfer: Mesut Ozil, Sokratis inches closer to Arsenal exit
Arsenal duo of Mesut Ozil and Papastathopoulos Sokratis are inches away from joining a new team this winter transfer break.
Ozil has reportedly agreed to join the Turkish giant, Fenerbahce after Arsenal reached an agreement with the German playmaker to terminate his contract in North London.
Ozil has not played for Arsenal since August last year due to some footballing reasons from the team and the former Real Madrid attacker can now play once again.
The Ozil exit to Fenerbahce is set to be official on Monday while Sokratis is likely to be heading to Germany.
Arsenal are working on bringing in replacement for Ozil with Emi Buendia high on the Gunners list this winter. Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal is 11th on the English Premier League table this season.
The team is still chasing a spot in Europe next season despite starting the current campaign in a slow fashion. They have won two out of their last three English Premier League games and are through to the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Ozil exit reduces the financial burden on Arsenal as the World Cup winner is one of the highest earners in the team.
