Some of the hostages who were freed by the terrorists who attacked the Abuja-Kaduna train in March have described their experiences as hostages after being held captive for 127 days.
According to the captives that spoke to journalists, their suffering was so horrific that they would not want the hostages who are still in captivity to spend even another day with their captors.
Additionally, they begged the Nigerian government to expedite efforts to obtain their release.
Mustapha Imam, an assistant professor at Usman Danfodio University in Sokoto, Akibu Lawal, Abubakar Rufai, Mukthar Shu’aibu, and Sidi Sharif are among the hostages who have been freed.
Dr. Mr. Imam described his experience to the journalists.
He claimed that almost the whole time they were held captive, the captives were malnourished. He continued by saying that common illnesses like malaria had no cure.
“In the last four months, there hasn’t been any food in the jungle, and we have gone three and a half months without eating. I understated how hungry I was when I said it.
“There are certain days when we only eat once a day. Mr. Imam said. Imagine that some of the kids are one year old and some are 20-month-olds, and they all get one meal a day, he said.
