A young Nigerian man identified as Seyi Akinade has reportedly committed suicide. Seyi was until death this morning, an undergraduate of a yet to be identified tertiary institution in Abeokuta, and also a forex trader.
According to late Seyi’s step brother who broke the news on his Twitter page @Comeback_snarky, the late young man had been battling depression and sleepless nights ever since his ordeal at the hands of SARS officials in the state which made him lose his presentation in school and ran him into debts running into thousands of dollars. Though family and friends never really got the clues Seyi had been dropping in recent times, it wasn’t until after his death that they can now put it all together. It was gathered from the last tweets of the deceased, how he had been complaining about how unliveable the world had become to him since the fateful SARS experience. See screenshots of the post;

The story is particularly sad as one continues to ask when we will stop hearing about avoidable deaths as this. When exactly? Why do our innocent youths continue to be killed by the lawlessness of our systems?
Though the Police department within the state is yet to make a press release over the allegations, Nigerians have taken to social media to express their anger and call for the heads of the officers concerned to be brought to book immediately.
