APC Chieftain’s House Burnt.

The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress in Benue State assumed another dimension on Wednesday as some arsonists set ablaze the residence of a chieftain of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, aka Young Alhaji, in Otukpo, Benue State.

The house, located at GRA, Otukpo, was said to have been set on fire around 3am.

The fire reportedly razed the front section of the building which housed the security post and auxiliary buildings.

Usman, a one-time senatorial candidate of the Benue South Senatorial District, had few days ago displayed a mock coffin with a condolence register of the APC at the front of his house.

Governor Umahi Seeks FG’s Intervention In A Landslide.

Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi yesterday called for immediate financial intervention from the federal government to tackle the landslide ravaging Ogwuma Eddah community in Afikpo South local government area of the state.

It would be recalled that another landslide at the weekend occurred at the retaining wall of Ogwuma section of the road from Iyere flyover in Afikpo South local government area of the state.

Governor Umahi made the appeal yesterday shortly after assessing the extent of the landslide which blocked a section of the road leading to Ohafia in Abia State.

FG Justifies N1.15bn Vehicle Purchase For Niger Republic.


The Federal Government, yesterday, justified the approval of N1.15 billion for the purchase of vehicles for Niger Republic.

This is even as the Niger Republic President, Mohammed Bazoum, honoured six Nigerians as the country marked its 62nd independence anniversary in Niamey.

Former presidential candidate and a chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has urged political leaders not to concentrate only on 2023 elections permutations to the detriment of urgent national security concerns, warning that “we must have a Nation first before election and our people must be alive and safe first to be able to vote.”

Counselling that the current wave of insecurity blowing across the country is more pressing than the elections, Olawepo-Hashim, in a statement by his media office, lamented that security breaches have escalated across the nation and reached a frightening dimension.

IGP To Punish Erring Police Officers For Rights Violation.

Inspector-general of police, Usman Baba, has vowed to punish any earring police officer who is found guilty of violating human rights.


 Speaking at a meeting with senior police officers in Abuja yesterday, the IGP charged police officers to ensure that they maintain and uphold the constitution of the country and the oath of their offices as anything below this would not be tolerated.
