Man United played their last pre season game on Sunday and were held to a 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano. Ronaldo promised that he would be available for selection and really did start the game against the La liga side.
The 37 year old was substituted at half time and even before the full time whistle, Ronaldo was spotted leaving Old Trafford. There were other first team stars who left Old Trafford early and Man United boss was certainly not happy with this.
According to reports from Express sport, this is what Ten Hag had to say after the players left early.
He told Viaplay: “There were more who did this [leave early]. Absolutely not [I didn’t accept it]. This is unacceptable. I tell them this, that’s unacceptable. We are a team. We are a squad. You have to stay until the end.”
Ronaldo had cited Family reasons as excuses for not being part of the Man United squad in pre season amid links away from Old Trafford. His early exit from Old Trafford sparked speculations that the player really is not interested in playing for the club but with other players departing before the full time whistle, it remains to be seen what really the reason is.
However, Ten Hag is understandably not happy with the players leaving so early and described their actions as ‘unacceptable’. Man United will open be back in action on Sunday 7th August in their opening premier league game against Brighton
