President Muhammad Buhari has directed the reopening of four land borders across the country.
This was communicated to the public through a press statement released by his Special Assistant on New Media, Mallam Ahmad Bashir, on Wednesday evening.
The decision was made today during the Federal Executive Council meeting that was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
The four land borders that will reopen are Some, Illela, Maigatari, and Mfun.
“JUST IN: President Muhammadu buhari has directed the immediate opening of four land borders; Seme, Illela, Maigatari, and Mfun.” Ahmad Bashir posted on his Twitter handle.
The land borders were closed by President Muhammad buhari in 2019 to fight insecurity and reduce the importation of locally produced goods.
The closure of the land borders has caused serious hardship in the country and insecurity has not reduced since they were closed.
