Super falcons Wins Turkish Women’s Cups after Beaten Equatorial Guinea 9-0
Nigeria senior football team the Super Falcons have won the just concluded Turkish women cup after thrashing her African counterpart Equatorial Guinea 9-0 in their final game on Tuesday. The nine-time African women’s cup champions Super Falcon became the first African team to win the tournament after picking nine points in three matches.
The Randy Waldrum-coached Super Falcons team scored a total of 11 goals without conceding any throughout the tournament. The match against African counterpart Equatorial Guinea and two times winner of the African Women’s Cup was described as a harvest of goals on the Falcons official Twitter handle.

Super Falcons team captain Asisat Oshoala scored four of the goals in the 11th, 13th, 26th, and 85th minutes of play. Gloria Ogbonna, Uchenna Kanu, Charity Adule, new-girl Toni Oyedupe Payne, and Gift Monday also registered on the scoresheet to condemn the two-time African champions to a humiliating defeat.
The Turkish Women’s Cup is the annual cup competition of women’s football teams in Turkey. The tournament started in 2017 and is also known as Alanya Gold City Cup, because the tournament is held at the Gold City in Alanya, Turkey. The Turkish women’s cup is played in late February or early March, at the same time as the Algarve Cup, the Cyprus Women’s Cup, and the SheBelieves Cup.
The past winners of the cup include Poland (2017), France (2018), France (2019), Chile (2020), with the Super falcons winning the 2021 edition.
