Regular football faces Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and nine other soccer players shortlisted for the FIFA men’s footballer of the year award coming up on December 17,2020.

Messi and Ronaldo has shared eleven out of the last 12 FiFA Men’s foothaller of the year award with only Luka Modric winning it once outside of the two players.

Apart from Messi and Ronaldo,other players shortlisted for the award includes Thiago Alcantara,former Barcelona and Bayern Munich player who is now signed with Liverpool in England. Thiago won the UEFA champions League and the German Bundesliga with Bayern Munich last season.

Manchester City and Belgium international, Kevin De Bruyne also made the eleven men shortlist for the biggest football award for men. Dey Bruyne played a crucial role for Manchester City last season as the Citizens finish second on the league table behind Liverpool the eventual English Premier League winner and also in the UEFA champions league before Lyon dumped them out of the biggest league in Europe in the quarter-final.

Sadio Mané, Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk all also made the FIFA shortlist for men’s footballer of the year award. Mané,Salah and Van Dijk were important for Liverpool as the Merseysiders won their first English Premier League title in 30 years last season.

Neymar Junior and Kylian Mbappe,both players of Paris Saint Germain are the only representatives from the French Ligue one. Paris Saint Germain played in the final of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their club history last season as Bayern Munich defeat them in the final of the competition.

Sergio Ramos, League winner with Real Madrid last season and one of the best defenders around today also made the list for the FIFA men’s footballer of the year award.

Last nominee for the FIFA men’s footballer of the year award is Robert Lewandowski. Lewandowski was arguably the most-inform forward in Bundesliga and Europe last season as he led Bayern Munich attack that won the UEFA champions league and the German Bundesliga for another season.

Voting for the FIFA men’s footballer of the year award and other categories on now on FIFA.Com and till when it will close on December 9. Top three finalists in each category will be announced by December eleven ahead of the winner’s announcement on the 17th of Decemeber
