According to BBC, South Sudan’s vice President is now Coronavirus positive along with his wife Angelina Teny, who is also the country’s defence minister.

Riek Machar who is South Sudan’s vice president, was tested on the 13th of May because, one of South sudan’s Covid-19 task force was tested positive.

South sudan’s vice president who is now Coronavirus positive said, he doesn’t have any symptoms as he is going to isolate for 14 days.

Some of his Bodyguards and staff have also been tested positive.

South Sudan has only 236 cases of Coronavirus with 4 death.

South Sudan became independent on the 9th of July 2011 making it the youngest country in the world.

South Sudan declared independence from Sudan on July 9, 2011, after a bloody civil war with the ethnically Arab north that had lasted decades. About 99 per cent people voted for independence in the referendum and the new country was quickly recognised by the international community. However, upon gaining independence, the country is still faced with poverty.

Riek Machar became the vice president of the country when it gained independence.but he was dismissed from the office on 23 July 2016. he was reappointed on 22 February 2020.
