Several Soldiers Killed in Balochistan, Pakistan Attack
An alleged separatist attack on a paramilitary corps in Balochistan, Southwestern Pakistan has left several soldiers dead. Today’s attack is coming a day after a bomb explosion killed two-person and leaving dozen injured close to a football field.
Similar attacks in the past against civilians and Pakistan military formation in the southwestern region of Balochistan have been claimed by separatist groups in the area.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) the military’s media wing, said today’s attack came after a group of assailants attacked a security post in Balochistan province’s Harnai district early on Sunday.
Sunday attack was targetted at the paramilitary Frontier Corps. During the exchange of fire, six paramilitary personnel and two private guards were killed. While six other soldiers were critically wounded in the attack according to the statement.
The assailant fled the scene and made their way into the mountainous terrain before other security teams could arrive to assist.
However, no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack in the volatile Balochistan region which shares borders with both Afghanistan and Iran. But it is highly likely to be carried out by the separatist group.
Balochistan is Pakistan’s largest and most volatile province which faces a multifaceted threat from several armed groups, including the Taliban and secession and separatist groups.
