Nigeria Evacuees from Dubai arrived at the Muritala Muhammed Airport Late, as against the previous time of 7 pm made public by the Chairman Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission.

A United Emirate Chartered Airline that was evacuating Nigerians from Dubai yesterday had to make a u-turn and return to Dubai in less than 60 minutes into the flight.

The Emirate Airline was carrying 256 Nigerians evacuees from Dubai as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic. The decision of the pilot to make a return back to the airport in Dubai was later known.

A Nigerian lady, Named Kafayat Amusan gave birth on board the flight, less than 40 minutes into the flight.

And the pilot decided to make a u-turn was according to airlines’ best practice as there was no doctor on board the flight to attend to the mother and baby.

This reason was made known by the Chairman Nigerian in Diaspora Commission Abike Dabiri Erewa. She said she has gotten in touch with the Nigerian ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.

And it was confirmed that the mother and the baby are in excellent condition, as they are receiving medical attention in Dubai hospital.

Other Nigerian evacuees from Dubai were later airlifted after the mother and baby were taken to the hospital.

Dabiri-Erewa said she will return to Nigeria after obtaining a birth certificate and other necessary travel documents for her baby boy.

The plane transporting the Nigeria evacuees touch down in Lagos at about 10 pm Nigeria time.

Officials of the National Center for Disease Control were on ground to receive the evacuees before they would be moved to various isolation centers in Lagos.
