Protest In Argentina as many demand the legalization of Abortion
Protest Continues in Argentina over the demand to legalize abortion in the country. People were seen dancing around the congress with a placard that read “Legalize Abortion”
The Argentine lawmakers have started debating since Thursday on the bill that will legalize abortion though, many citizens support the decision, few are against the decision. The two sides of the abortion legalization bill all stood outside the congress, protesting.
The bill which was backed by the Argentine president Alberto Fernádez sets to get approved if the majority of the lawmakers approve it.
Protest also occurred in Argentina 2 years ago which saw many protesting for the legalization of abortion. The bill which was tightly approved, saw the senate disapproving it.
The Roman Catholic Church urges the legislators to look into the bill carefully to respect human lives.
Currently in Argentina, if you involve In abortion, you will be prosecuted alongside the person who did it for you.
The abortion law only Exempts those that are raped or those that if the pregnancy is kept, it can lead to complications.
President Fernádez’s promise when he was campaigning for the 2019 election was that he will legalize abortion because he knows that was what the majority were seeking and the citizens will only vote for those that do what they request.
The bill which is being debated will become law if more than half of the 257 lawmakers support it. More votes are being expected on Friday.
