Police brutality: Wilfried Zaha speaks on killings in Nigeria
Wilfried Zaha, the Crystal Palace, and Ivroien forward speaks on the killings in Nigeria as government-backed security and thugs continue to attack peaceful protesters calling for an end to police brutality in the country.
“I don’t know what is going on in Nigeria right now but I pray it all stops because it’s painful seeing innocent people killed daily” reads a statement from the Crystal Palace forward.
Peaceful protest continues to rock major cities and towns in Nigeria for the 14th day straight now despite security personnel killing and injuring protesters across the country.
Yesterday alone, not less than 10 youths were killed at the Lekki tollgate in Lagos by some alleged military personnel after the protesters refused to quit the protest venue despite the Lagos State Government declaring a 24-hour curfew in the state.
The protesters were attacked by men in the Nigeria Army military uniform at night after the CCTV camera at the venue was disconnected and the electricity power supply was off too while the brutal killing against protesters was on.
Despite the killings and attacks in various parts of the country particularly in the Southern part, the govt is yet to truly yield to the demand of the youth apart from disbandment of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS unit of the Nigerian Police.
