PDP has accused the ruling party APC and President Muhammadu buhari of series of constitutional violations.
The main opposition party the Peoples Democratic Party said the president’s appointment of Lauretta Onochie as INEC national commissioner is a direct violation of the Constitution of Nigeria.
PDP accused President Muhammadu buhari and the ruling All Progressive Congress of series of constitutional violations, abuse of human rights, and impunity bedeviling the nation in the last five years. It also accuses the President and its ruling party of plotting to trigger violence.
In a tweet, the People Democratic Party said the attempt by the All Progressive Congress to justify the appointment of Lauretta Onochie as INEC national commissioner shows that the APC is behind series of constitutional violations in the country.
“Our party and indeed, Nigerians were shocked that the @OfficialAPCNg deployed an impostor, as a spokesperson, to issue a statement to justify the brazen violation of paragraph 14 of the 3rd Schedule of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which forbids a person involved in partisan politics to hold office as a member of @inecnigeria
After a critical analysis of the statement and other offensive comments by the @OfficialAPCNg in support of constitutional violations and abuse of rights, no one is left in doubt that the APC, as a party, is bent on triggering a crisis and destroying the unity of our dear nation, seeing that it has no place in the future of Nigeria.”
The PDP however, States that the APC and President Muhammadu buhari has failed in its diversionary tactics which will ber diminish the determination by the PDP and other well-meaning Nigerians from using every democratic and constitutional means possible to stop the confirmation of Ms. Lauretta Onochie as INEC national commissioner.
