A lecturer in an American university, Farouk Kperogi,Ph.D says Nigerians now paying more for the Premium Motor Spirits (PMS) than the United States of American per gallon after the latest hike in the petroleum product which Nigerians now buy for #170 per litre.
Kperogi,a known critic of Muhammadu buhari administration took to his Twitter handle to tweet the information.
“With the recent hike of petrol price in Nigeria to N170 per liter (which adds up to N680 per gallon), it means Nigerians are now paying $1.79 per gallon for petrol (at the exchange rate of N380.5 to a dollar). Well, I just bought petrol here in Atlanta at $1.62 per gallon.
To paraphrase buhari, it makes no sense for petrol to be cheaper in the US, the world’s wealthiest country, than in Nigeria, the world’s poverty capital” says the American based don.
Nigerians are groaning under the growing hardship as a litre of premium motor Spirits now sell for #170 after the federal government begins means to cut cost of governace amidst biting economic hardship.
The new price of the petroleum product which started selling for #170 per litre last is affecting Nigerians already with many citizens depending on the product to run their businesses and to power their homes due to lack on constant power supply.
