Nigeria Airforce Received New Air Gunship To Boost Its Fight Against Boko Haram
The Nigeria Airforce under the leadership of the current Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Abubakar Sadique has continued to build and improve the capability and capacity of the Nigeria Airforce in tackling the insecurity across the country.
Earlier today the Nigeria Airforce took delivery of delivery of another mi-171e helicopter to help in the military fight against the Boko Haram insurgency. This has added more boost to the country’s effort to sweep out the terrorist group from every part of the country.
The helicopter gunship which was acquired from Serbia was delivered to the Markurdi Airforce base this afternoon by the Ilyushin 79 strategic airlifter aircraft.
Mi-171E is a new generation heavy-lift multirole helicopter. It has a composite main rotor, X-Shaped tail rotor, transmission, drive-shaft, Saphire 5G APU, VR-17 gearbox.
The new aircraft is the second mi-171e helicopter to be acquired by the Federal Government of Nigeria since 2015 when the Muhammadu buhari administration came to office. This, therefore, brings to a total of 23 brand new aircraft acquired since 2015.
This new helicopter gunship would add more boost to the fight against Boko Haram insurgents. The buhari administration is making true its promise to make sure Boko Haram is wiped from the country.
The government has invested heavily in various aspects of the military which includes capacity building and weapon acquisition. The Nigeria Airforce is a testament to this fact following the improvement that has been witnessed within this military arm.
