The Nigeria Airforce has announced and confirmed the arrest of its personnel who were seen in a viral video flogging curfew defaulters in Ilesha Osun State. In a Statement made public earlier today on the Nigeria Airforce Twitter handle, the Military organization said it would not allow any of its personnel and officers to bring disrepute to the organization.

According to the statement, the Nigeria Airforce said it is a professional and disciplined force,  which does not condone such irresponsible acts and has zero-tolerance for human rights violations, in whatever guise, even against suspected criminals; as all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. The Nigeria Airforce while condemning the act confirmed that such as depicted in the video is against it our core values because the Nigeria Airforce places a high premium on the rights of citizens.

The attention of Nigeria AirForce has been drawn to a video showing some personnel flogging/meting out corporal punishment on suspected hoodlums involved in criminal activities during the imposed curfew in Ilesha. We wish to inform the general public that Nigeria AirForce has identified all the personnel involved in the incident & placed them on close arrest, while investigation to determine their level culpability has commenced, after which appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.

As a professional & disciplined force, does not condone such irresponsible acts & has zero tolerance for human rights violations, in whatever guise, even against suspected criminals; as all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.

The acts depicted in the video are at variance with our core values, as we place a high premium on the rights of citizens.
