Michael Pence Last Move To Stop Congress From Impeaching Trump
Vice President Michael Pence has stepped in to stop the move by Congress to invoke the 25th Amendment which could see President Donald Trump get Impeached.
With just eight days to the handing over the date to President-elect Joe Biden of the Democratic Party, Speaker of Congress Nancy Pelosi and other members of the Congress are making plans to have the VP and Cabinet invoke the 25th Amendment, which clearly states that in a situation where a President is incapacitated and deemed unfit to rule, he shall be impeached.
The House voted 223-205 to call on Vice President Michael Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove President Trump.
This won’t have any practical effect as Pence has already said he won’t do it and Congress can’t force him. The House is adjourned until 9 am Wednesday.
This is following the January 6th insurrection by Pro-Trump supporters who invaded the Capitol building, protesting the election and the purposes certification of the electoral college site by the Congress.
In a letter written by Michael Pence, he called on Congress that with the political crises facing the United States of America and the global pandemic razing the world, now is the time to heal.
He said, “Under our Constitution, the 25th Amendment is not a means of punishment or usurpation.” VP Michael Pence urged members of Congress “to avoid actions that would further divide and inflame the passions of the moment.”
However, it seems Nancy Pelosi and her fellow Congressmen have another plan of action to impeached Trump if the VP Michael Pence and the Cabinet refuse to invoke the 25th Amendment.
In a letter to Democrats in Nancy has outlined her plan of action. He said the VP will have 24 hours to invoke the Amendment, “Next, we will proceed with bringing impeachment legislation to the Floor,”.
