Marcelo, Roberto Carlos, other soccer greats salute Cristiano Ronaldo as the Juventus forward reach a century of goals for Portugal against Sweden in the UEFA Nations League with a beautiful free-kick in the first half.
Cristiano Ronaldo was on 99 goals for the national team ahead of the match after missing the game against Croatia. The Juventus talisman scored twice last night to reach 101 goals for Portugal and becomes the highest international goalscorer in Europe.
“My brother that football gave me, I’m so happy to be able to be here congratulating you on 100 goals for the national team. I know what you’ve done for your national team and what you keep doing” says Ronaldo former teammate Marcelo.
“Some players don’t even get 100 goals in their whole career. This is even about your club goals, this is just the national team. It’s crazy!” Says Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand while paying tribute to Ronaldo on hitting 100 goals.
“100 goals, Man! It’s more than deserved. Wonderful career, great professional, great person. Congratulation and enjoy this moment. Keep giving us all the happiness” says legendary left-back Roberto Carlos.
“100 goals, is the landmark of only a dazzling phenomenon, a record-breaker like you. It’s the milestone of a monster” says former Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder Deco.
Cristiano Ronaldo is now 8 goals behind Iranian Ali Daei to become the all-time international highest goalscorer.
The five-time world footballer of the year is one of the diminutive goalscorers around today playing the round leather game if not the number one.
At 35-year-old age, Ronaldo is still scoring at ease for both club and country.
