Longest Sea Bridge in The World Built By China Cost $16.8bn
The world’s longest sea bridge has been unveiled by China. China is home to many of the world’s longest bridges and roads because of the country’s large landmass. Most of the bridges in China are for the high-speed railway which covers great distances in a short time.
The 55kilometer bridge connects China mainland to Hong Kong. The bridge which is currently the world, during construction workers made used of 420,000 tonnes of steel the equivalent of 60 Eiffel Towers to make build the world’s longest sea bridge.
The Bridge links Hong Kong SAR with the southern city of Zhuhai China and the region of Macao. The bridge would cut the travel time between Hong Kong and Zhuhai from 3 hours to just 30 minutes. It took six years for preparation and 8 years to be constructed. The world’s longest sea bridge cost around $16.8bn.
Hong Kong has been trying to break away from China’s rule over the years and this has resulted in protests and tension. The cultural and economic differences are widely considered as a primary cause of the conflict between Hong Kong and mainland China. The differences between Hong Kong people and mainlanders, such as language, as well as the significant growth in the number of mainland visitors have caused tension.
Hong Kong has played a central and important role in China’s economic development, opening up to the outside world since the late 1970s. Hong Kong companies have made huge investments in China and the territory has also been an important catalyst and conduit in the development of economic relations between China and many of its key trading partners, such as the United States, Japan, and Taiwan.

Hong Kong’s role as a bridge between China and the rest of the world has been of immense strategic significance. There are various reasons for Hong Kong’s international indispensability. The building of the world’s longest sea bridge which now connects China mainland with Hong Kong would significantly bring the formal British administer country under China domination.
