Liverpool Welcome Fans Back to Anfield With Clinical Display Against Wolves
Liverpool put up a spectacular display against Wolverhampton to welcome fans back to Anfield since March when fans were prevented from coming to the stadium due to the Covid 19.
What looked like a one-sided game saw the Anfield giants put 4 goals past Wolverhampton. Salah opened the scoring in the 24th minute, with a clinical assist from Liverpool captain Henderson. After the young Liverpool goalie, Kelleher has earlier made a critical safe to keep the game at 0-0.
At the resumption of the second half of the game, Wijnadum made it 2 for Liverpool in the 59th minute, following another assist from Henderson. Matip joined the list of goal scorers and made it 3 with a fine header from a Salah cross.
An own-goal in the 78th minute by Nelson Semedo made it 4 nill. Liverpool has now returned to second on the Premier League table, with Tottenham who sits at the top of the table after 11 games on the same point as Liverpool but with a better goal difference.
For the first time since the lockdown begins, Liverpool has welcome fans back into Anfield. The Liverpool City Region has been placed in Tier 2 restrictions. However, in the interest of public health and safety just 2000 supporters, were allowed into the stadium under strict monitoring.
Liverpool has been working closely with the Liverpool city council to create a robust health safety plan in line with government guidelines.
