Lekki Massacre: Nollywood actor calls for Lekki Toll Plaza to be renamed
Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo calls on the government to rename the Lekki Toll Plaza to Lekki Memorial Way so as to honor the victims of the end SARS protest at the venue where some protesters lost their lives to security personnel shooting.
Alex Ekubo, one of the popular male faces in the Nollywood movie industry today took to social media to make the statement.
“Lekki Toll Plaza, should be renamed Lekki Memorial Way… & be made Toll Free… in Honor of our fallen comrades” advises by Ekubo.
The Delta-born actor also charged the government to make the road toll free as part of ways to keep the memory of the fallen heroes alive.
Youth in Nigeria protested at the Lekki TollGate in Lagos for more than 10 days for both nights and days before military men in camouflage stormed the venue of the peaceful protest on Tuesday after the light was switched off and the CCTV camera removed by suspected agents of the government to dispersed the protesters with not less than ten people killed and many seriously injured.
The Tuesday killings led to a serious face-off between the security personnel and the youth across the state with many government properties destroyed by hoodlums disguising as protesters.
The youth have now quit the streets following breakdown of law and order thereby forcing the government to use force on the protesters and hoodlums infiltrating the protest in major cities and towns across Nigeria.
