The midfielder has been in outstanding form this term to help keep the Foxes in the top four throughout the campaign and making 29 appearances in all competitions.
Tielemans’ current deal expires in the summer of 2023 and Leicester are keen to tie him to a new one, potentially worth about £100,000 a week, as a reward for his superb displays. James Maddison signed a new contract in the summer that took him to the £100,000 a week mark.
Boss Brendan Rodgers said: ‘I would be very keen [to see that happen] but there is no rush at this moment.
‘We would obviously love to extend his time here.
‘When he was brought in [initially on loan in January 2019] he was not playing at Monaco and he has shown over the last couple of seasons the qualities and improvements he’s been able to make.
‘He’s a really important player and a joy to work with. He has incredible maturity for a young guy and you see the consistency now in his performances.
‘He will have a couple of years left in the summer and I am sure the club will speak to him and his representatives.’
