The Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has redeemed a 25-years old pledge made to Nigeria and Africa’s first Olympic gold medalist Chioma Ajunwa.

Chief (Dr) Mrs. Chioma Ajunwa who is now an Assistant Commission of Police today received the keys to a 3-bed room flat to fulfill the promise made to her by the Federal Government when she made Nigeria proud by becoming the first Nigeria athlete to win a Gold medal at the Olympic.

Chioma Ajunwa achieved fame when she became the first black African woman to win an Olympic gold medal in a field event at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, and to date remains Nigeria’s only individual Olympic gold medalist.

Lagos state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, while presenting the keys to formal Nigeria Athlete encourages the government to always fulfill its promise. The new 3-bed room flat is located at the Babatunde Raji Fashola housing estate Iporin Lagos.
