Lagos-Ibadan Railway begins commercial operations today -Fed Govt
The Lagos-Ibadan railway begins commercial operations today as trains will now transport passengers from Lagos to Ibadan once daily. The news of the commercial operation was forst revealed by the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi last month.
The commencement of commercial operations by the Nigerian Railway Corporations will help citizens moving in and out of Lagos during the Christmas period as it will reduce traffic on the road.
According to the Nigerian Railway Corporations, there will be only one trip on the new train route daily for now but it will be increased with time. Trains will leave Lagos for Ibadan by 8AM daily and return to Lagos by 4PM.
Travellers along the axis can now enjoy train services as the federal govt’s bid to link the whole country together using railway lines continues.
Meanwhile, the federal government has announced that travellers that are willing to use the Lagos-Ibadan railway line will have to pay between N3,000- N6,000 depending on the class.
