Labour Union suspend strike action following the agreement the union body reached with the representative of the Federal government.
According to the details of the agreement that was reached in the late-night meeting as at 2:53 am. The FG has agreed to suspend the purported increase in electricity tariff but insisted that the deregulation that is going on in the oil sector would continue.
FG also said that it would begin to roll out palliative to Nigerians to help cushion the effects of deregulation on the populace.
This information was made known by the Minister of state for Labour and Employment, Mr. Festus Keyamo.
Mr. Festus Keyamo tweeted the information on its official Twitter handle, however, Nigerians have reacted to his post and call the NLC and other union bodies in the country a disappointment on the Nigerian people.
The minister said the government would set up a joint committee to be headed by himself to examining the justification of the new policy on the Nigerian people. As it stands labor Union suspends its planned strike action which was to commence Monday.
Mr. Keyamo tweeted:
“FG & LABOUR reach an agreement at 2:53 am. Deregulation to stay as Govt rolls out palliatives for labour (details in 2 weeks); Electricity tariffs suspended by Govt for 2 weeks with a joint committee headed by @fkeyamo to examine the justification for the new policy. Strike suspended” https://t.co/9tOTlJ9o1l
