Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari is set to receive the Kankara kidnapped school kids released by their abductors today at the statehouse in Katsina.
The pupils numbering over 300 was released by the Boko Haram terrorists yesterday after successful negotiation with the government.
The pupils of Federal Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State spent more than four days in their abductor’s cell before the government was able to secure their release.
It was allegedly reported that the federal government paid close to $5M to secure the release of the over 300 kidnapped school kids from their abductors.
The school children will be escorted to the Katsina State Government House by the military today after they were handed over to them.
The abduction of the school kids further put more pressure on this administration as it exposed the security lapses once again.
The latest kidnapping has forced boarding schools in Katsina, Sokoto and other northwest and north-central states to close schools for this year.
Kidnapping and other forms of insecurity continue to be on the rise in Nigeria especially in the northern parts where Boko Haram and bandits are on the rampage.
