Insecurity: Ex-Militia warlord, Tompolo makes a cameo appearance in public after 6 years of hiding
Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo, the popular Niger Delta ex-militia warlord from Delta State appeared in the public for the first time in six years yesterday as youths from the region are threatening to commence vandalization of pipelines and attacks on oil companies in the oil-rich region.
Tompolo and others stopped vandalization of pipelines in Nigeria after the Federal Government under Late Umar Musa Yar’Adua gave the youths in the region amnesty for peace to reign.
Tompolo and others agreed to a ceasefire that worked in the region with the government employing majority of the ex-militants as pipeline surveillance security while others were trained and empowered.
The Warri-born ex-agitator became so popular under Goodluck Jonathan’s administration that he reportedly own gunboats to fight insecurity in South-South.
Government Ekpemupolo was declared wanted by the Muhammadu buhari administration for laundering public funds but he failed to appear but rather disappeared into thin air almost six years ago.
Despite the government ransacking and destroying his properties using the military and his father’s death, Tompolo failed to appear in public.
This week as the protest by youth in Nigeria take a new turn with ex-militants vowing to begin attacking oil companies, Tompolo who was their leader and important figure showed up in the public again.
