The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board JAMB, has approved a new cut-off mark for those seeking admissions into Nigeria tertiary institutions.

The registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, made this known today Tuesday 16 of June 2020, In a virtual meeting of the exam body.

According to the Registrar, he said The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has approved 160 as a minimum score for admission seekers into tertiary institutions in Nigeria for the 2020 school session.

While the cut-off mark approved for Polytechnics is 120 and above while that of the Colleges of Education stands at 100 and above.

Prof. Oloyede also disclosed that out of 1,157,977 candidates who sat for UTME in 2019, about 612,557 were offered admission. The JAMB boss noted that about 510,957 admission spaces were unused by tertiary institutions in 2019.

This year University Tertiary Matriculation Examination has been put on hold following the lockdown caused by coronavirus. Although some candidate have already sat for the examination and are awaiting the resumption of University across the country.

Oloyede noted that candidates waiting for their results will only be considered when they are uploaded on its website.
