Higgins call-out for poets and spoken word artists to participate in LGBT+ History Month open mic
To kick off LGBT+ History Month this February, the Higgins Bedford is protecting a virtual night of poetry, prose, and private memories with LGBT+ Poet Laureate Trudy Howson.
And Trudy is inviting poets and spoken word artists in Bedford to percentage the degree with her.
On Monday 1 February, Trudy Howson will explore the studies of the LGBT+ network from the 1970s as much as the existing time.
She will share poetry and testimonies highlighting the political campaigns that have affected the LGBT+ community, which include the emergence of C.H.E. (Campaign for Homosexual Equality) and G.L.F. (Gay Liberation Front), early and ongoing Gay Pride Celebrations in the UK, the impact of HIV/AIDS, and the continuing battle towards Hate Crime.
Trudy will even consciousness of the challenges the LGBT+ network has confronted in gaining popularity, equality, and admiration within mainstream society.
As a part of the nighttime, Trudy is inviting local poets and spoken word artists to share a poem stimulated via their reviews of being a part of the LGBT+ community in an Open Mic Night.
