NGF have urged President Muhammadu buhari to implement 2 weeks interstate lockdown which will be made tomorrow.

“The governors’ resolution is to curtail the spread of Coronavirus. The federal government has the power to shut inter-state borders, hence the request to Mr. President,” he said.

“The two weeks’ lockdown will be announced by Mr. President. It’s a done deal. However, he will list exemptions and give Nigerians other important information.”

buhari has been asked to stop inter state movement.

The statement was signed by the NGF chairman and Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi.

The interstate lockdown will not stop the movement of essential commodities such as: Food, Medical supplies, petroleum supplies and others

Also restriction of large gatherings, flight ban, imposing an overnight curfew, banning of flights and compulsory use of facemask.

Curfew is a state of emergency imposed on citizens where there will be a restriction of movement.

There are currently 1182 Coronavirus cases in Nigeria but due to the situation in Kano State the figures could be higher.
There are some numbers trending on social media that it is about 600 but newsmen were told from an undisclosed souce that it is higher
The cause of the death which is known by no one but some source said it is caused by either Coronavirus or meningitis.

The situation in Kano is caused by 2 reasons:

  • The suspension of Nigeria center for disease control (NCDC) without an exact date when they will resume
  • And also the hasty burial of victims without proper autopsy which is as a result of Islamic laws.

Ochu said, “NCDC does not have an office in Kano nor in any state. However, NCDC supports states in setting up public health emergency operations centres run by states to ensure effective coordination of a public health response”.

In a viral video involving a 70-year-old woman which says her son in law died that proper investigation should be made on the cause of the death.

It says,“What will happen to my grandchildren? Please, I want people to come to my aid. I am dying; I’m an old woman. NCDC in Abuja, FCT Minister…I am shouting to everybody, please help me,” she wailed in a viral audio.
