Iran Issues Arrest warrant for Trump, seeks the help of Interpol in arresting and detaining him after the Killing of General Qassem Soleimani which took place on the 3rd of January 2020.
It is not certain that Interpol will grant Iran’s request as it’s guidelines restricts it from taking part in any political case.
Ali Alqasimehr the prosecutor for Tehran said Donald Trump, in cooperation with more than 30 others accuses of involvement in the Drone that killed their top commander General Qassem Soleimani, face “murder and terrorism charges.”
Interpol located in Lyon, France, said that it’s constitution forbade it to undertake “any intervention or activities of a political military, religious or racial character.”
“Therefore, if or when any such requests were to be sent to the General Secretariat,” it added, “… Interpol would not consider requests of this nature.”
The US’s Iran envoy Brian Hook described the move as a “propaganda stunt”.
“Our assessment is that Interpol does not intervene and issue Red Notices that are based on a political nature,” Hook said at a news conference in Saudi Arabia.
“This is a political nature. This has nothing to do with national security, international peace or promoting stability … It is a propaganda stunt that no-one takes seriously,” he said.
Ali Alqasimehr also said, Iran requested a “red notice” be put out for Trump and 30 others.
In the red notice, iran requested that Interpol find and arrest Donald Trump and 30 others involved in the killing of General Qassem Soleimani.
