Ramadan is the ninth month of the lunar calendar in which Muslims are to fast for 29 or 30 days.
There are four things every matured Muslim who will participate in the spiritual exercise must do before the month begins.
These are the four things you need to do before Fasting;
1. Medical Checkup
The first thing to do before you start the 30 days fasting is to check your health status. You should check if you are fit to take part in the spiritual exercise. Almighty Allah exempts the sicked from fasting doing this period. It is also reported that Prophet Muhammad (saw) always check his health status before fasting. Light exercise will help you keep fit.
However, you should not lie about your health because Allah is all-knowing.
2. Financial Preparation
Muslims spent a lot of money during Ramadan. You need to buy foodstuff, spend on the poor and the needy, and other forms of ibadah that requires money. You have to prepare yourself financially in order not to put yourself in a tight corner.
3. Increasing acts of Ibadah
One of the Important things to do before it begins is to escalate your effort in worshipping Allah. Read the glorious Qur’an every day, wake up for tahajud and give to the poor and needy.
4. Settle discord if there is any
Muslims are advised to settle their discord with everyone before the holy month begins. The more you settle your difference between you and others the closer Allah is to you and vice versa.
Ramadan is a month of mercy and forgiveness do not enter it with a negative mindset.
These are the four things you should do before you enter Ramadan.
