This reaction is coming in the wake of the recent near shameful outings of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their qualification bid for the African Nations Cup.

Yakubu Aiyegbeni is not happy with the Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr and has expressed his discontentment while asking that the Franco-German tactician be sacked right away.

Speaking further, Yakubu insisted that the manager is plainly not just good enough and should be allowed to leave.  The former Super Eagles striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni alao claimed that the current coach of the Nigerian national football team Gernot Rohr is one of the worst coaches in the history of Nigerian football.

You would recall that the Nigerian Super Eagles recently met with the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in the AFCON 2021 qualifying series. Nigeria had surrendered a 4:0 lead in the first leg, allowing the visitors to pull back an almost impossible comeback to draw 4:4 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin on November 13, before managing a 0-0 draw in Freetown four days later.

According to the Nations Newspaper, an angry Yakubu Aiyegbeni while speaking to the Lagos Talks FM, stressed that the coach is simply not good enough to manage the Super Eagles team. Yakubu complained about some of the boys not being good enough, and wondered who was calling them up into the team. “Who’s inviting them?”, he said.

Meanwhile, striker Victor Osimhen who was injured during Nigeria’s first leg AFCON qualifying clash against Sierra Leone is confirmed to have dislocated his shoulder.  He immediately departed for Italy as he returned to his base to undergo further tests and his club Napoli confirmed he is undergoing physiotherapy following a dislocated right shoulder.

I think it is common knowledge now, and one logical conclusion we can all draw from the Sierra Leone vs Nigeria 2nd leg showdown is that Gernot Rohr is not tactically sound.

What do you think of Yakubu Aiyegbeni’s rants? Is sacking the coach what the Nigerian football team needs, or a total overhauling of the entire squad? Please share your thoughts below…
