Salihu Yahaya, a former aide to former Adamawa State Governor Boni Haruna, was arraigned in Yola before the Upper Area Court III for allegedly calling his former wife, Maryam Tabah, an adulterer.

Since they divorced, Maryam Tabah accused her ex-husband of spreading lies about her being an adulterer. She said that Yahaya, to whom she had been married for 19 years, defamed her by accusing her of adultery and telling everyone that she had sent her packing because she had been sleeping with a boy whose name she called Adamu Buba Bazza.

Maryam further revealed that Yahaya called her friend Sa’a Luka after their marriage was dissolved on January 4, 2021, telling her that he had divorced her friend because of infidelity.

However, after being arraigned for defamation, the former chief protocol to the former state governor made a no-guilty submission through his lawyers.

However, his ex-wife insisted that his actions amounted to defamation of character, punishable under section 378 of the Adamawa Penal Code.
