Football: Three EPL games that cost Frank Lampard his job at Chelsea
Chelsea football club announced that the club has sacked club legend and ex-manager Frank Lampard today and former Borussia Dortmund and PSG manager, Thomas Tuchel will be replacing him at Stamford Bridge.
Frank Lampard was sacked by Roman Abramovich following just four wins in his last ten games as Chelsea manager.
Despite Chelsea win against Luton yesterday in the FA Cup, Abramovich, who is popular for changing managers at will did not spare the former Chelsea legend.
Lampard’s Chelsea defeat against Arsenal in December, Machester City earlier this month and then Leicester City cost Frank Lampard his job with the blues struggling to qualify for a European place next year.
The former Derby manager joined Chelsea in 2019 and he has been axed just less than two years in charge.
“This was a very difficult decision for the Club, not least because I have an excellent personal relationship with Frank and I have the utmost respect for him.
“He is a man of great integrity and has the highest of work ethics. However, under current circumstances we believe it is best to change managers.
“On behalf of everyone at the Club, the Board and personally, I would like to thank Frank for his work as Head Coach and wish him every success in the future. He is an important icon of this great club and his status here remains undiminished. He will always be warmly welcomed back at Stamford Bridge”, says Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich on the sacking pf Frank Lampard.
Thomas Tuchel will have to turn Chelsea fortune around as they currently occupy the 9th position in the English Premier League table and they also qualified for the next round of the FA Cup.
The will have the opportunity to guide Chelsea to another Champions League final this season after falling short with PSG last season in the final against Bayern Munich.
