- Flash: Another high profile Appointee resigned from Rotimi Akeredolu’s Govt as Guber poll draw nearer
An appointee of Rotimi Akeredolu, Andrew Ogunsakin has resigned from his position ahead of the October 10 governorship election in Ondo State today.
Until his resignation, Andrew Ogunsakin was the Senior Special Assistant (South) on Political to Rotimi Akeredolu’s Government.
“The call of my constituents on me to join the train to actualize a common aspiration different from what is offered by your government and your party stands at the root of my decision to quit at this point” read Ogunsakin’s resignation letter.
The SSA on Politics is not the first high profile member of Rotimi Akeredolu Government to resign after he declared his ambition to seek re-election for another four years. The State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi defected from the ruling APC to join PDP and later joined Zenith Labour Party.
Also resigned from Akeredolu led Ondo State Government was the former Secretary to the State Government Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde.
The series of resignations from Akeredolu’s Government is not unconnected from the October 10 governorship election in the state.
Akeredolu will be giving stiff opposition and challenge by Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Agboola Ajayi of the Zenith Labour Party.
Eyitayo Jegede contested against Akeredolu under the PDP in 2016 but came second and this time around he is attempting to go a step further in his bid to occupy the number one citizen position in Ondo State
