FG Makes Final Decision On Resumption Date As ASUU Kicks Against Reopening Of Schools.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that the January 18 school resumption date is still intact. The decision was reached on Thursday after the ministry of education met with stakeholders in the educational sector.
The Education Minister, Adamu Adamu, told the Punch newspaper on Thursday that the January 18 earlier announced by the Federal Government is still intact.
However, some members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) are mounting pressure on the Federal Government to postpone the resumption date because it is not safe to return to class now.
The Federal Government has shunned the request and insisted on January 18 as the resumption date for all schools in the country.
Some higher institutions have also announced resumption date, however, the majority of them will hold lectures online.
The University of Lagos will resume on January 25, Bayero University in Kano will resume on January 18, and many others.
