FG Begins Free Conversion of Vehicles from Petrol to Gas Powered.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has begun the conversion of petrol-powered vehicles to gas-powered.
The project is being executed by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources under the leadership of Timipye Sylva.
The vehicles running on Compressed Natural Gas are buying the product 95 Naira per liter.
Diesel-powered trucks will also benefit from the project.
Nestle Nigeria has switched from diesel-powered vehicles to compressed natural gas. Diesel is sold at 230 Naira per liter while gas sold for 95.
About 5,600 vehicles converted already, the project will begin fully in October.
Generators can also be converted to Gas Powered. The plan is for major banks, industries, and factories to switch from diesel to CNG. Households are also encouraged to do so.
The advantages of gas-powered vehicles and generators are, Easy to use, environmentally friendly, less maintenance, less noise, and longevity.
Those pictures are from the CNG stations in Edo and Delta. No accidents reported since then.
The CNG stations at Eya pipeline bus stop along Auchi road after Aduwawa has been operating for the past 5 yrs if I am not mistaken. Most of the taxi that plies Ring road, Aduwawa, Eya, Auchi bypass make use of CNG. They have the cylinder in their boot.
About 9,000 stations will be added, including NNPC stations.
This is a good initiative from the Federal Government, I hope it last for long.
