Special adviser to President Muhammadu buhari on Media and publicity , Mr Femi Adesina has explained reasons the Federal Government has continued to deny Kano State government of funding during this fight against global viral disease, coronavirus.

He claimed that Kano State government under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje placed more importance on securing the funds than actually being proactive and arresting the situation in the early stages.

These new claims were made early on Thursday morning while the special adviser responded to questions thrown at him on a program ‘As E Dey Hot’ on Wazobia FM, Kano.

Femi Adesina was full of praises for Lagos state on the way they started out and he said that was what impressed the federal government as they were satisfied and certain that the Lagos state government was appropriately utilizing its funds for the sole purpose of containing Covid-19.

He further revealed that at the onset, Lagos wasn’t even looking for funds but technical supports, manpower, and also facility support. He said buhari led government felt it necessary to lend a helping hand not because Lagos asked but because they were fully convinced.

Although it is not clearly evident from Adesina’s statement if FG will still releaw the funds to Kano, but one thing was certainly clear, he said all governors immediately asking for money at the onset of their covid-19 crisis might not get it.

He also added that the president has sent technical support to Kano State which the government felt was what the state needed most at the material time.
