Folarin Falana a hip hop musician and rapper has waded into an issue raised by a Nigerian senator Ben Murray Bruce. Popularly known as Falz the bad guy, Folarin Falana is one of the few set of musician that use his music to talk about the ills in the society.
Apart from using his music to raise awareness about bad governance, Falz the bad guy is also one of the vibrant voice that uses his influence to call out government. He is also the son of the popular Nigerian lawyer Femi Falana.
Recently, Falz the bad Guy gave his point of view on the issue raised by a Nigerian senator in person of Ben Murray Bruce.
It all started after the politician and media owner noted how worried he was about the state of the Nigerian medical profession and how they treat their patients.
Ben Murray Bruce then went on to ask if as Nigerians, we sue medical professional for negligence that resulted in the death of a loved ones or they just accept it as the will of God.
He wrote via his twitter handle “I am worried about our medical profession and how they treat patients. Have you ever sued a doctor or a hospital in Nigeria for negligence that resulted in the death of a loved one, or do you just say it was the will of God? This is serious. We must begin to ask questions.”
However, things took a new look after Nigerian singer Falz the had guy told him to rather be concerned about the state of the Nigerian hospitals than the negligence of medical professionals.
For Falz, Nigerians are more likely to die because our hospitals are ill equipped. He then went on to state categorically that Nigerians are just one serious sickness away from dying because we can’t gather money to travel outside Nigeria to receive proper health care.
In his word of reply, Falz wrote “What about the state of our hospitals??? We are more likely to die because our hospitals are ill-equipped! We are all one serious sickness away from dying because we can’t gather money to fly abroad”
In my honest opinion, I will agree with both Ben Murray Bruce and Falz. As Nigerians we not only suffer from poor ill and under equipped medical hospitals but also a negligent and unconcerned doctors. The two problems are just part of the whole medical problems in Nigeria.
While there are issues related to bad health care facilities, poor renumeration to doctors and others, doctors have also been lackadaisical about their duties to human kind which has to do with saving life. Every of this problems matters and needs to be addressed.
