30-year-old Afrobeat legend Ayo Balogun “Wizkid” reaches global landmark streaming record on Spotify. Wizkid becomes the first African to reach two billion all-time music streams in Africa and he is currently at number 129 in the world ranking just at the age of 30.
Wizkid alongside Nigerian duo of Burna Boy and Davido are redefining the Afrobeat by steadily putting the genre of music on the world map in recent times.
The popularity of Afrobeat has soared tremendously in the last ten years with more recognition across the world.
Wizkid is arguably the most successful singer in Africa among his contemporaries with countless awards to his name.
The Lagos-born Afrobeat star has sold out popular and iconic locations within and outside Nigeria like The O2 Arena and the Royal Albert Hall both in the United Kingdom.
Apart from Wizkid, two other Nigerian artistes to have reached at least a billion stream are Davido and Burna Boy.
