EFCC officers broke into my room at night, arrests me, cart away with my phones and laptop- Twitter Influencer
Social media influencer and computer centre operator Rotimi Adediran narrates how men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC attached to Ibadan zonal headquarter broke into his apartment in Abeokuta in the early hour of 10th October, 2020 to arrest him and also cart away with his iPhone, an android and an Itel phone and a laptop which he uses to work with the pretense that he is involved in cybercrime (Yahoo Yahoo).
Rotimi denied any involvement in cybercrime and nothing implicating was found on his phones and laptop despite 72-hour of grilling in their cell.
The Abeokuta based entrepreneur was illegally paraded alongside 9 other youths and have their pictures on the commission’s social media platforms as cybercrime suspects without trial.
After 48- hours of searching Rotimi’s phones and they found nothing incriminating on his gadgets, they gave him a stringent bail condition of getting a lawyer, two sureties with landed property in Ibadan, and must be a taxpayer for the last two years.
He finally perfected the bail condition on the third day in their cell but they refused to release his laptop and phones to him until a later date for further investigation and a month after, they are yet to release the phones and their laptop.
On getting home, Rotimi’s apartment that broke into by the EFFCC operatives was ransacked with his Plasma Television and other appliances within the room were stolen by unknown robbers who capitalized on his arrest while his apartment remained opened.
The Anti-graft body is notorious for arresting and giving suspects media trial before charging them to court.
