Dustin Higgs Finally Face the Gallows In Trump Recent Execution Orders
US Supreme Court allows the Federal Government to proceed with the execution of Dustin Higgs following President Trump’s administration’s informal ending of a 17-year suspension on capital punishment.
The Trump administration has carried out a high number of federal execution. The informal suspension of capital punishment resulted in the Department of Justice announcing plans last year to move on with 6 Federal executions before January 20, 2021. This week, Higgs is scheduled to be executed by the Federal government Departments of Justice.
In 1996 Dustin Higgs was found guilty by a Maryland jury of 15 counts for first-degree kidnapping and murder of Tamika Black, Mishann Chinn, and Tanji Jackson. The victims were fatally shot after partying with Dustin Higgs and two of his friends Victor Gloria and Willis Haynes at Higgs apartment, a night before the homicide.
Dustin Higgs lawyers have argued Higgs should be clear for clemency because though he supervises the kidnapping and murder of the 3 women, he was not the person who killed them. A fact no one has ever disputed, including both Haynes and Gloria, and prosecutors.
Dustin Higgs is the latest and final prisoner scheduled to die in the recent executions ordered by Donald Trump, following the execution of Lisa Montgomery and Corey Johnson this week.
