At the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday, the All Progressive Congress had its National Executive Council meeting.
President Muhammad buhari, with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and APC Governors in attendance, chaired the emergency meeting.
As some claimed that it was wrong for the ruling party to hold its meeting at the Presidential Villa, the venue of the meeting created controversy among political analysts. Regardless of political party or ethnic group, the presidential villa is for all Nigerians. For the ruling party, it is unfair to turn Aso Rock into its secretariat.
Some have also pointed out that what occurred on Tuesday at the presidential villa is historically unprecedented. In its 16 years of governing Nigeria, the People’s Democratic Party has never tried to use the Presidential Villa for party affairs.
Some have opined that there is nothing wrong with the action of the president and the ruling party.
Recall that the All Progressive Congress also used the presidential villa for its National Executive Council meeting in June 2020.
