Dissolution Of Party Excos: PDP tasks INEC to deregister APC
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP tasks the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to deregister the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, after the party dissolved its state and zonal executives during a virtual meeting today.
The opposition party further advice INEC to declare the seat of all elected lawmakers under the All Progressives Party’s platform in the state and federal level vacant and conduct fresh bye-election to fill the positions.
The party also called on government agencies, civil society groups and the international community to gazette the ruling party as a defunct political organisation.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress has dissolved its zonal and state executives during an emergency meeting held today at Aso Villa. President Muhammadu buhari, Prof.Yemi Osinbajo, national assembly members under the party platform and state governors were in attendance in the meeting.
It was during the emergency meeting that the decision to dissolve party executives was reached. The dissolution of the party executives further confirmed the rumoured crisis rocking the ruling party.
The party also agreed to extend the tenure of the caretaker committee chairman amd its member for another six months as the convention earlier slated for this month could not hold.
