COVID-19 task force officials rape another girl In Anambra, coming some week after a policeman attached to COVID-19 task force In Port Harcourt rape and molested a 32-year-old woman arrested for not wearing a facemask.
According to social media reports, the officials attached to the COVID-19 task force in Anambra were caught while allegedly raping a girl for not wearing a nose mask and flouting the state COVID-19 order.
The task force officials were accused of taking advantage of the girl in their vehicle at Nkpor community of the state. The incident which attracted the attention of some residents of the community led to the destruction of some parts of their vehicle.
The news of the COVID-19 task force officials allerged to have rape another girl In Anambra was shared on Facebook by, Chinedu Saint Bede Onwuka who wrote;
“Suspected members of Anambra COVID-19 task force were caught molesting and having carnal knowledge of a young girl inside their vehicle at Nkpor – whom they claimed flouted the law mandating the wear of Facemask in the State.”
Just last week, a 32-year-old widow recounted how a Police officer allegedly raped her till dawn after she was arrested for not wearing a nose mask, a breach of COVID-19 protocol in Rivers state.
The widow with the help of HUMAN rights defender, Prince Wiro, charged the Police Command in Rivers State to investigate and prosecute the police officer attached to the Sakpenwa Police Division, Tai Local Government Area, accused of raping a woman for breach of COVID-19 protocol.
The widow narrating her ordeal said; “I was returning from Bori to Port Harcourt when I met some police officers at a checkpoint. They arrested me for not wearing a nose mask. They kept me long there with them.
“Thereafter they carried me from one place to the other, claiming they want to take me to the police station, but never took me to any police station.
“After some time, they took me to a guest house where one of them raped me till dawn. His name is Inspector Peter Iba of Sakpenwa Police Station.”
The Anambra police command has said it would investigate the allegation that COVID-19 task force officials rape another Girl In the state. If any official is found wanting, shall face disciplinary actions.
