Nigeria and 210 other members will benefit from the $150M financial relief FIFA is set to give it members across the world as part of efforts to contain coronavirus is still on.

FIFA announces that the. $150M is part of a far-reaching financial plan to cushion the effect of the disease pandemic in its members state.

According to a press release by the football governing body, each member is set to pocket an initial $500,000.

The 211countries will also get their remaining entitlement for 2010 and 2019 apart from the $500,000.

Those financial entitlements, which are usually paid out on a conditional basis, will also be covered in full to help cover losses incurred as a result of COVID-19 outbreak across the world.

“The pandemic has caused unprecedented challenges for the entire football community and, as the world governing body, it is FIFA’s duty to be there and support the ones that are facing acute needs,” according to FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Speaking further, Infantino says “This starts by providing immediate financial assistance to our member associations, many of which are experiencing severe financial distress.

“This is the first step of a far-reaching financial relief plan we are developing to respond to the emergency across the whole football community.

“Together with our stakeholders, we are assessing the losses and we are working on the most appropriate and effective tools to implement the other stages of this relief plan.”

The ongoing pandemic is having negative effect on football calendar with major leagues now on suspension.

The Dutch league campaign for the 2019/2020 season is now suspended without winner and other major leagues are set to follow in days.
